PC Technician

CompTIA: A+ Certification

The PC Technician program prepares the graduate with basic hardware and computer repair skills. This program is designed as an entry level into the world of IT. The graduate will be able to build and repair a computer, install, configure, and maintain a variety of Windows operating systems in a stand-alone, workgroup, and domain environment.

The PC Technician graduate will have the opportunity to test for the CompTIA A+ certification. It is worth noting that many corporations and government agencies encourage employees hold the CompTIA A+ certification. In addition, the CompTIA A+ certification is recommended by other certifying agencies as the best way to demonstrate that the individual has learned the foundations of PC support and administration.

The PC Technician graduate will have the opportunity to test for the CompTIA A+ certification. It is worth noting that many corporations and government agencies encourage employees to hold the CompTIA A+ certification.

WHAT TO EXPECT:This is a foundational program, meant for individuals who are new to the IT field, and may be a spring board to a new IT career. The role of the PC Technician is to support users of personal computers in a professional environment. This entails designing a personal computer to meet specific needs, setting up a new system, upgrading a system, installing operating systems and productivity applications such as Microsoft Office, removing viruses, troubleshooting issues, and answering questions for the user.
